First called Y, the Lancia Ypsilon is a supermini produced by Italian automaker Lancia. Launched in 1996 the three-door hatchback is the replacement of the Y10, although it is larger and more expensive.
Based on the first generation Fiat Punto the first Y shared with that model its underpinnings. The Lancia Y was only available in the three-door hatchback variant and was powered only by petrol engines from 1.1 to 1.4 litres.
In 2003 Lancia unveiled the second generation, now called Ypsilon. The model remained only availble with a three-door body and was now based on the second Fiat Punto.
The third generation of the Lancia Ypsilon arrived at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Based on the Fiat Mini platform shared most of its styling from the new Lancia Delta.
