The third series Land Rover was launched in 1971 and the new 4x4 vehicles became the most frequently seen Land Rovers.
During the production years of the Series III Land Rover, the 1-millionth unit was built, in 1976.
When the last Land Rover was made, around 440 thousand units had been manufactured.

The engine options for the third series Land Rover range from a 2.25 L to a 3.5 L unit, in petrol and in diesel (2.25 L only) fuel versions. Their power output goes from a minimum of 62 hp to a maximum of 91 hp.
The Land Rover is four-wheel driven.

The third series Land Rover could be acquired either as a 2-door or 4-door off-road vehicle or as a 2-door pickup as well.
At the beginning of this series only some slight adjustments were made to the vehicle’s bodywork, like its new plastic grille that replaced the previous series’ metal grille.
However, throughout the third series’ last few years, Land Rover felt the urge to meet the ever growing rivalry from other brands, so its body styling received some more significant changes.
