Léon Bollée

Léon Bollée Automobiles was established by Léon Bollée in Le Mans, France in 1896. The first  vehicle made  by Léon Bollée was a three-wheel which he called Voiturette . The first four-wheel was built in 1899.  After the death of its founder the company kept on business and managed to survive the WWI by producing machine guns and ammunition. Car manufacture was resumed in 1919 until 1924 at which time the company was bought by Morris Motor Company and changed the name to Morris-Léon Bollée. Sales of the Morris-Léon Bollée cars being quite below expectations, production was stopped in 1928. The company was shut down in 1931.
