Mazda presented the second generation Demio, i.e. the first actual Mazda 2, in 2002. It was named Mazda 2 in every market outside Japan and only the Japanese units kept the ‘Demio’ name. Even Ford no longer sold the Festiva Mini Wagon badged version.

The specialists considered the 2002 Mazda 2 quite more fun to drive and that it would especially please the young-aged drivers for its practical handling. The 2nd generation Demio was produced until 2006.
