about:

Mercedes was a German brand that belonged to Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft. Although its name wasn't registered legaly until 1902, the company's first car produced by Wilhelm Maybach dates from 22 December 1900. The first car was ordered by Emil Jellinek, whose niece Mercédès Jellinek, ended up giving the name to the brand. Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft merged with Benz & Cie in 1926 to create a new brand: Mercedes-Benz. The new brand belonged to the newly founded brand Daimler-Benz, AG.
