In 2010 Mercedes-Benz launched a new generation of its CL-Class. The German brand’s coupé underwent a series of updates in terms of design also receiving technology updates. This new generation has been conceived focusing on fuel consumption and exhaust gas emissions for the exclusive high-end segment. The 2010 CL-Class also includes new technology such as edge camera and radar-based assistance systems.
The design of this coupé generation is dominated by the short profile of the bonnet, a V-shape radiator grille and curving headlamps. The front bumper also received a new look with three air intake openings and a chrome trim strip.

This generation also features a new V8 biturbo engine with BlueDIRECT technology delivering its power. The new engine features in the CL 500 BlueEFFICIENCY and CL 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY versions. The technology package includes a series of new developments, a third-generation spray-guided direct petrol injection with piezo injectors and multi-spark ignition with up to four ignition sparks within a millisecond.

The coupé's package includes the ECO start/stop function and on-board voltage with kinetic energy recuperation in overrun mode.
