The SL400 was introduced to replace the SL350 and it is equipped with Mercedes-Benz’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 direct injection petrol engine, which was launched with the new E400 in 2013. With 333hp and 480Nm of torque, it delivers 23hp and 110Nm more than the naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 direct-injection petrol unit that powers the SL350.
The roadster is matted with a seven-speed automatic transmission. According to the German brand the SL400 is capable of reaching 100km/h in 5.2s, 0.7s faster than the SL350, and an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
Although its power was increased when compared to the SL350, the SL400 is more efficient with an average consumption of 7.3l/km and average CO2 emissions of 172g/km, allowing the new SL version to be EU6 compliant.
