Metro Cammell Weymann (MCW) was founded in Washwood Heath, Birmingham, in 1932, as a result of a joint-venture between Weymann Motor Bodies Ltd and Metro-Cammell Ltd. In 1987 the company launched the MCW Metrocab, that became a very popular taxi cab in London. The taxi cab production business was sold to Reliant in 1989, and to Kamkorp in 2001 but the vehicles remained in production until 2006, when it was discontinued.
