Monica was founded by Jean Tastevin in Balbigny, Loire, France in 1967. The object was the production of an extremely luxury grand touring. After several body redrawings and prototypes, Monica was presented in Paris Motor show in 1972 and after some more changes was finally launched in 1973. The 1973 oil crisis put an end to Tastevin’s dream, the market preferences going for low fuel consumption cars. Production stopped in 1974.
