Because of finantial problems, NSU had to sell their recently built plant in Neckarsulm. Fiat bought it and agreed to finish the remaining NSU cars in the new plant with the bagde NSU-Fiat. As the NSU passenger cars became more known, it was decided to change the name of NSU-Fiat cars to Neckar in 1957. Only two-wheelers were manufactured in Neckarsulm until the mid-fifties, when NSU returned to car building with the Prinz.
