Audi launches new TT RS in Beijing

The two variants are aimed as competitors of the 718 Boxster SPorsche 718 Boxster SGermany, 2016 > present and Cayman SPorsche 718 Cayman SGermany, 2016 > present. They will reach the market in October.

The new TT RS are powered by the new Audi turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder petrol engine, now with an aluminium block which cuts 10kg on the overal weight of the car, compared to the previous generation.

With 400hp and 480Nm of torque the new TT RS, matched with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, can reach 100km/h in 3.7 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds quicker than the older TT RS Plus. Both models will reach a maximum speed of 250km/h, but it can go up to 280km/h.

Riding on a 10mm lowered chassis, the new TT RS also gets stiffer springs and dampers. It features 19in alloy wheels and optionally can be fitted with ceramic brakes.

In terms of design, the TT RS gets new front and rear bumpers, wider door sills, deeper air intakes at the front end, oval exhaust pipes and a large rear fixed spoiler. The new sportier TT version is available with optional OLED tail-lights each consisting of four elements.
