. The main novelty is a range of renewed and more more efficient eight and six-cylinder engines that meet EU6 standard emissions. With the upgrade the German brand aims to improve the competitiveness of the executive model, in both sedan and station wagon variants.
Range renewed engines
A new feature of the A6 range is the arrival of two more efficient "ultra" versions. These two vehicles receive small subtle details and weight reduction that allow to lower consumption and emissions. The A6 1.8 TFSI engine is based on the gasoline direct injection 2.0-liter and consumes 5.7l/100km and produces 133g/km. The A6 2.0 TDI ultra is based on the 2.0-liter four-cylinder common rail diesel engine and consumes 4.2l/100km and produces 109g/km CO2.
Further up the range Audi also updated the 3.0 liter V6 common rail diesel on the A6 3.0 TDI clean diesel, which now has 218 and 272hp versions. Biturbo engines with 320 and 326hp equip the A6 3.0 TDI 326cv competition and the A6 Avant 3.0 TDI competition.
The competition versions are equipped with an eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission. The remaining variants can be equipped with a new six-speed manual transmission or an automatic dual-clutch seven-speed transmission.
The quattro all-wheel drive system is available in versions above 272hp and can be complemented with a sport differential that supports the traction, varying power sent to each wheel on the rear axle.
The S6 and S6 Avant have also received updates in line with the renewed range of the S7. Thus the two performance versions of the Audi A6 get the same 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbo 450hp petrol engine. These versions reach 100km/h in 4.6s and 4.4s, respectively. In terms of consumption the sedan version spends 9.2 liters per 100km and produces 214g/km while the Avant version consumes 9.4l/100km and emits 219g/km.
Design changes
Some subtle changes were made on the grill, the headlights, the bumpers, the side skirts and the tailpipes.
The model gets LED headlights as standard. The rear turn signals come standard with dynamic functionality that indicates the direction of the curve. This technology is optional on the front lights.
Inside, the A6 gets the latest generation of the Audi modular infotainment system and new upholstery options, colors and finishing options are also available.
The orders for the new Audi A6 will open in October.
