RSR. The car was testing at Sebring International Raceway in Florida with other GTE cars. Its race debut is still a few months away on April 14 at the first World Endurance Championship race at Silverstone.
Porsche will run two cars in the entire WEC, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Its drivers will be Richard Lietz, Marc Lieb and Romain Dumas in the #92 and Patrick Pilet, Jörg Bergmeister and Timo Bernhard in the #91.
“Our goal is to be well prepared for the challenges of the very strong GTE class in the WEC and at Le Mans. The circuit in Sebring is very well suited to put a new vehicle through some demanding trials. For this reason, a test in Sebring is a very good rehearsal for one of the toughest races of all, the 24 Hours of Le Mans,” said Porsche’s Head of Motorsport Hartmut Kristen.
Porsche did not release any specific details about the new 911 RSR. Being based on the 991-chassis means that the car gets a longer wheelbase. The images show that significant portions of the body are made from carbon fiber, and the car has widened fenders front and rear. Porsche has not said yet whether the 4.0-liter engine has been carried over from the previous generation, or if it is using something new
