will begin deliveries on September 24. For the time being the truck will only be on sale in California.
Prices for the Rav4 EV start at $49,800. Although, there is also a $2,500 rebate from the state of California and a $7,500 rebate from the federal government. It also qualifies to drive in California's High Occupancy Vehicle lanes. Toyota is also offering to lease it to interested buyers for $599 a month plus $3,499 due at signing. Toyota believes that it will sell 2,600 Rav4 EVs through 2014.
The Rav4 EV is rated with a range of 103 miles and gets 78mpg equivalent in the city, 74MPGe highway and 76mpge combined.
Toyota is also offering a home charging station built by Levitron that will charge the Rav4 EV fully in six hours. The Levitron chargers provide 240v of power. The larger charging station is not a necessity with the Rav4. It can be charged with a standard 120v outlet, but charging will take significantly longer.
