Porsche Boxster Spyder debuts in New York

is presenting itself at the New York International Motor Show 2015 with the launch of the new Boxster SpyderPorsche Boxster SpyderGermany, 2015 > present. The design of the new convertible gets inspiration from Porsche sports models and competition.

The new top model of the Boxster range maintains the distinctive character of its predecessor. For example, the classic roof continues to be opened and closed manually and the vehicle is available only with manual transmission.

The new Boxster Spyder is equipped with a six-cylinder boxer engine with 3.8 liters with a 375hp output. This allows the convertible to reach 100km/h in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 290km/h. Porsche announces an average consumption of 9,9l/100km with 230g/km of CO2.

The convertible retains the sporting driving characteristics and performance of the original roadster. The vehicle includes a sport suspension reduced by 20 mm in height, brakes from the 911 Carrera and also a more direct handling.

In terms of design the Boxster Spyder includes stylized elements that bring to mind Porsche's sports and competition models. For example, as a tribute to the 718 SpyderPorsche 718 RS 61 SpyderGermany, 1961 > present1 photo
from the 60s, the new Boxster Spyder has two prominent aerodynamic protrusions that extend behind the headrests for the rear up to the trunk lid. The front and rear are copied from the Cayman GT4Porsche Cayman GT4Germany, 2015 > present.

Inside, the driver and the passenger have at their disposal bucket seats with large side bolsters, while the new steering wheel with a diameter of 360mm aids in steering precision. Following the purist design, the Boxster Spyder does not include standard radio and air conditioner so as to reduce the weight of the vehicle. However, both can be purchased as long as assembled at the factory at no extra cost.

The new Boxster Spyder will be launched on the market in July and can now be ordered in official dealers.
