, and we have heard about turbocharged, hybrid and larger displacement versions. One version that will not be hitting the roads will be the GT86 convertible, according to Toyota insiders.

A convertible GT86 made it all the way to the concept stage in the form of the FT-86 Open concept, but Toyota has dropped the idea for the foreseeable future and will not give a reason why.

In July, Toyota engineer Tetsuya Tada said, "We are already working on a mid-life facelift for the car, and we are investigating both turbocharging and supercharging too, But an electric motor assistance solution is also possible, and would bring benefits that forced induction does not."
