. The hybrid seven-seater has been on sale in Europe since 2012 and now receives a new front and rear design and new safety systems.
Regarding the design Toyota reshaped the front of the Prius+ further linking it to the rest of the brand model range. The vehicle receives a new upper grille accented by the Toyota logo placed in a three-dimensional extension of the bonnet.
One of the new features are the headlights which have been designed according to the "Keen Look". The Prius+ gets a single cylindrical Bi-Beam projector for both high and low beams. The contrasts between dark elements and chrome detail make the new design stand out.
The new design also includes a large trapezoidal lower grille finished in glossy metallic black. The impression of width of the new Prius+ is fostered by the corners of the bumpers which now have a three-dimensional shape coming down from the headlights to the new air intakes and new daytime running lights.
At the rear the Prius+ also gets a new design of the lighting clusters, making the car more recognizable. Toyota made changes in the area of the registration plant and the bumper, which now includes an integrated diffuser.
Inside Toyota will include in the new Prius+ seats with electric adjustment. The cabin is available in black or grey cabin, and with a choice of 3 upholstery finishes: fabric, fabric with ‘Toyota E-Tex’ leather side bolsters, and full Toyota E-Tex’ leather seats.
Technology is another of the strengths of the new Prius+. Toyota will introduce as standard the Intelligent Park Assist system that uses a rear camera and ultrasonic sensors in the front bumper to help parking.
In terms of safety technology the new Prius+ includes a new Emergency Brake Signal that in case of sudden braking activates all exterior lights in order to try to prevent rear shocks. Braking capacity of the Pre-Crash Safety system has been improved and can now reduce the speed by 60km/h. The Hill start Assistance system is now automatically activated when the car detects an upward gradient.
The engine of the Prius+ has also been upgraded and now meets the Euro 6 emissions standards.
The arrival of the new Prius+ to the European market is scheduled for January 2015.
