The Nissan Versa is based on a stretched-wheelbase variant of the Nissan B platform and was introduced in the United States and Canada in July 2006 as a 2007 model. As an entry-level model in these markets, the Versa competes directly with the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris.

The second generation of the Nissan Versa was revealed at the 2011 New York Motor Show.
