The Perana cars were built by Basil Green Motors Company headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa. The company gave the name Perana to their cars in 1968 that were modified versions of Ford Cortina, Ford Capri, Ford Escort, Ford Granada and Ford Sapphire. These were high performance cars and some racing saloons won the Saloon Car Championships in 1970 and 1971. The company adopted the name Perana Performance Group in 2007 and decided to build their own sports car in collaboration with the Milanese coach builder Zagato. The Perana Z-one is the first model resulting from this partnership.
