The Peugeot Quartz is concept introduced in 2014 developed to show the French brand's vision of a high-performance SUV.

Based on PSA's EMP2 platform, introduced with the 308, the Quartz is described by Peugeot as a vehicle that combines the body of a SUV and the cabin of a sedan. The Quartz features scissor doors, a retractable step for easy access to the vehicle and has no pillar-B.

The Peugeot Quartz is 4500mm long, 2060mm wide and is equipped with 23-inch wheels with 305 mm Continental tires. To improve aerodynamics and help cool the brakes, the wheels were covered with composite flaps.

In terms of design the front of the car is dominated by the grid with the lion logo in the center and two large side air intakes. The vehicle is equipped with front and rear LED lights. The long hood extends to the short cabin up to the rear where two small spoilers were placed in the area where the roof meets the tailgate.

Equipped with a hybrid powertrain, Peugeot Quartz provides a combined output of 500hp, joining a four-cylinder petrol engine 1.6-liter THP with 270hp and two eletric motors with 115hp, one on each axle. The hybrid system was combined with a six-speed automatic transmission. The front electric motor uses regenerative braking to charge the 400V battery and assists the combustion engine in gear changes.

The Peugeot Quartz can be driven in three different modes. The vehicle can move in zero-emissions mode using only the electric motors, with a range of 50km. In Road mode the vehicle uses the combustion engine and front electric motor and for a more sporty drive, Race mode also uses the second electric motor.

On the interior the Quartz presents a new design approach of the i-Cockpit, which can already be found in a series of production models. The vehicle is equipped with four bucket seats with racing safety belts. The coating of the carrier is made with a mixture of leather and a fabric made out of fibers taken from recyclable plastic water bottles. The Quartz also includes a multi-function steering wheel, two digital displays and a HUD display, placed in front of the driver showing driving information.
