Review

After 48 years the model continues to be unmistakably a 911. Its longer wheelbase, further 100mm, and its lower height, the new 911 continues to show its athletic appearance, retaining the typical sports car compact exterior dimensions.

Changes at the front include a wider front which gives more stability on the road to the 911 and the remodeled exterior mirrors which are now placed on the upper edge of the door as an aerodynamic advantage but also as part of the new design line.

The new 911 has received an all-new, lightweight body, an intelligent aluminium-steel construction which is responsible for most of the weight reduction, compared to the previous one.

Aerodynamic optimization includes a wider, variably extending rear spoiler enables the new 911 Carrera’s lift to be reduced, while it still features a very good Cd value.

One of the highlights of the new 911 has to do with fuel consumption. The new Carrera S has brought Porsche’s efficiency to a new level with all versions consuming below 10 litres per 100km. Compared with the previous 911, consumption and emissions have gone down by up to 16 per cent. This has been made possible thanks to the use of technologies such as the auto start/stop system, thermal management, electrical system recuperation and the world’s first seven-speed manual transmission.

With a 400hp 3.8 litre boxer engine, the Carrera S witj PDK storms to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds while consuming 8.7l/100km and producing CO2 emissions of 205g/km.

911

The 911 model is none other than a 2-door sports car produced by Porsche AG. Just like a typical Porsche model, it is built in a slightly arched frame, even through the large number of modifications it has experienced along its many years of existence. It has also been made in Cabriolet and Targa versions. Larger and clearly more sophisticated than Porsche’s previous models, the rear-engined 911 was said to be the main opponent to the Jaguar E Type,...  more
