The 2013 911 Turbo S was unveiled by Porsche which improved power by about 5%. The engine has turbos with variable vane turbos. However, it is equipped with start/stop and a coasting function for the first time. It reduces fuel economy by 16% to 9.7l/100km. The only available transmission will be the seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

The Turbo S will do it in 3.1 seconds. Both cars have a top speed of 318km/h.

The 911 Turbo S is much more than just a powerful engine stuffed into the standard car. It is the first 911 ever to come with an active anti-roll system.

It also gets a different all-wheel drive system from other Porsches that includes an electronically operated, mechanical center differential to balance power between the front and rear. The system is also liquid-cooled so that it can send the cars’ full torque to the front wheels when needed.

The new 911 Turbo S has active all-wheel steering in addition to all-wheel drive. The rear control arms are electronically controlled and can dial in as much as 2.8 degrees of turn. Porsche claims it gives the effect of shortening the wheelbase by 250mm at low speeds and lengthening it by 500mm at high speeds, which grants the car better low-speed maneuvering and high-speed stability.

Like every 911 Turbo Porsche has sold, this version includes widened rear fenders that are 28mm wider than a standard Carrera. There are large air ducts in each fender to feed the turbos.

Porsches have been available with active rear wings for several generations, but the this Turbo also gets an active front spoiler that moves in three stages. The driver controls whether the spoiler provides driving efficiency or downforce. These selections make similar changes to the rear wing.

Inside, the Turbo S offers adaptive cruise control, a camera-based sign recognition system and a Burmester radio as options. It comes standard with leather-covered Sport Seats Plus with 18-way power adjustability and a Bose stereo.

911

The 911 model is none other than a 2-door sports car produced by Porsche AG. Just like a typical Porsche model, it is built in a slightly arched frame, even through the large number of modifications it has experienced along its many years of existence. It has also been made in Cabriolet and Targa versions. Larger and clearly more sophisticated than Porsche’s previous models, the rear-engined 911 was said to be the main opponent to the Jaguar E Type,...  more
