Porsche unveiled the second generation of the Cayman at the 2012 LA Motor Show and this is the first time since introduction that the Cayman is getting a new platform.
Compared to the Boxster, the Cayman has a unique front end with larger air intakes, and the added roof makes the rear look more rounded.
The new car is offered in two trims - regular and S - just like the old version and share engines with the Boxster. According to Porsche fuel economy has been improved by about 15% over the previous car.
The new car sheds 66lbs (30kg) over the previous generation, and Porsche says that the chassis is 40% stiffer. Length is up 0.1in (2.54mm), and height is 0.8in (20.3mm) lower. However, wheelbase is up 2.3in (5.84cm).
The interior is identical to the new Boxster, but the passenger compartment is 15 liters (0.5ft³) larger than the previous generation.
