Premier

Premier  was built in India by Premier Automobiles Limited, headquartered in Mumbai. Premier Automobiles Limited was founded in 1944 but they started by building cars under several coachbuilders’ license and only in 1973, they build the first car named Premier. The Premier series were based first on Fiat and afterwards also on Nissan Models.  Despite the low volume of sales dictated by a reduced market, Premier managed to thrive until the 1990’s thanks to the import restrictions imposed by the Indian Government. The liberalisation brought an end to Premier Automobiles that was forced to shut down in 2001. A Premier Diesel travelled around 25 states in India, through deserts and mountains, in 3 weeks.
