about this car
Produced between 1962 and 1980, the Premier was initially the flagship of the GM Holden range until 1968, when a longer-booted version of the Premier was introduced with a higher level of equipment and a longer boot (trunk). That car, the Brougham, was in turn displaced by the new, long-wheelbase Statesman model introduced with the HQ range of Holdens in 1971.
Alongside the basic Belmont and medium-spec Kingswood, the Premier continued through the late 1960s and 1970s until finally being rendered superflous within the range after the release of the Opel-based Commodore SL/E model in 1978.
