Proto Motors was founded in 1994 under the name of Proto Design which was changed to Proto Motors in 1997. Proto Motors engaged in the manufacture of sports cars and had considerable success with its Proto Spirra series that ranked 2nd as the Best of Show in the Seoul Motor Show, in 2002. In June 2007 PROTO Motors was taken over by Oullim Motors and this company has since then pursued the production of this supercar under the name Spirra. A Spirra won the Yongin Speedway race in the 2008 Extra Time Trial and GTM race series.
