As part of Infiniti's new naming scheme, the crossover formerly called the JX will now be called the QX60.
The QX60 Hybrid uses a 2.5-liter supercharged four-cylinder engine with a 20hp electric motor attached to it. Total system output will be around 250hp. There are two clutches linking the engine, motor and CVT, which means that the car will be able to be powered only by the electric motor for short periods. Battery recharging comes from regenerative braking. The hybrid model will be available with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Infiniti says that the QX60 Hybrid will get 26mpg US combined fuel economy, a 24% increase over the standard car and the best available for a seven-seat crossover.
The electric motor's battery is hidden under the third-row seat and has no effect on interior storage capacity.
