Saab

Saab is a Swedish brand of automobiles that was established in the 1940’s as the car division of a Swedish airplane company named SAAB (Svenska Aeroplan AktieBolaget) that began to seek new businesses and markets in the post-war period. Saab’s first passenger car was released in 1947 – the Saab 92. The car’s design was a clear reference to the company’s heritage in aviation.

Since 2000 the company had been owned by the American General Motors, but was sold to Spyker Cars in 2010 as consequence of the global financial crisis. After failed negociations for another take-over, Saab filed for bankruptcy in December 2011.
