In 2006 Volkswagen announced the production of a new Scirocco model. A concept car named IROC premiered at the 2006 Paris Auto Show and gave a preview on the new Scirocco. The new model is based on the PQ35 platform of the Golf V and was presented at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.
The 3-door hatchback went on sale in Europe in the same year and is available in various engine and transmission versions.
