Kia announced the launch of the third generation Sorento in the summer of 2014.

The renovated model features a lower roofline, a more muscular structure, rounded shoulders at the rear and deeply sculpted body surfaces. A renovated "tiger nose" grille contribute to Kia's goal of making its best selling SUV a more sofisticated vehicle.

The third generation is a clear evolution over the previous ones. Clearly recognizable as a Sorento the new model features the main design cues of the current design. The model received design elements introduced with the Kia GT Cross concept, at the 2013 Chicago Motor Show. The Sorento retains the long hood and wide D-pillars as the previous generation.

The design of the third generation was handed to Kia's design studio in Namyang, South Korea, but received the collaboration of the Frankfurt and California studios.
