In July 2004 Porsche unveiled its 997 series. Although it can be mechanically similar to its predecessors, aesthetics are pretty divergent from the previous 996 generation. With an output power of 415 hp, the most potent version of the range can reach a top speed of around 193 mi/h (310 km/h).
The 911’s distinct design and technical components have been permanently evolving since its debut, whether it’s the Porsche itself or private groups who create those changes. The 997 actually became the most successful 911 generation in sales, having sold more than 100.000 units until mid-2007.
top997 models come with naturally aspirated and water-cooled 3.6 or 3.8-liter engines that are rear-mounted. Power outputs range from the base model’s 320 hp to the GT2’s 530 hp. These cars can be driven in two wheels (rear) or in four-wheels, depending on the chosen version. As the 911 range’s base Carrera model achieves a top speed of 175 mi/h (285 km/h), the GT2 reaches up to 204 mi/h (328 km/h). 997’s gearbox transmissions come in 6-speed manual or 5-speed Tiptronic automatic versions.

Suspension
The 997 series’ front suspension consists of McPherson struts with lower control arms, coil springs, a stabilizer bar and shock absorbers with active control. The rear suspension is a 5-link multilink, built with coil springs and shock absorbers with active control. The suspension system for the 997 is complete with PASM – Porsche Active Suspension Management.

topThis 2-door model could be purchased in the Carrera (coupé) or the Targa (convertible) body forms. When speaking about body features, the 997 series is mostly renowned for its traditional “bug eye” (round) headlights, which represent both a return to the oldest series’ design and the most prominent trait that differs from predecessor 996 series.
