The modern Aston Martin DBS V12 is a GT sports car and it was revealed at the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. This high-performance sports model has joined the Aston Martin range to take the place of the Vanquish S as the British brand’s mainstream model.

Introduced as an alternative to the standard six-speed manual gearbox, the DBS has an optional "Touchtronic 2" six-speed automatic transmission. Derived from the same ZF transaxle unit that was developed for the DB9, the system has been substantially re-engineered to accommodate the power and performance characteristics of the DBS.
Body
In response to customer's feedback DBS now features an optional 2+2 seating configuration, where the rear storage areas are replaced with two seats. A 2+0 arrangement, where two storage areas populate the rear environment, remains standard.
topThe DBS is powered by a V12 6.0l front mid-mounted engine with a rear wheel drive layout. With the option between a 6-speed manual and a "Touchtronic 2" 6-speed automatic transmission, the DBS accelerates from a standstil to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds reaching a maximum speed of 307km/h.
With the manual transmission, the DBS has a combined fuel consumption of 16.4l/100km and produces 388g/km of co2 emissions. With the Touchtronic 2 transmission, the car features 12.9l/100km of combined fuel consumption and 367g/km of co2 emissions.

In 2011 Aston Martin unveiled its new DBS Carbon Edition, the successor to the DBS Carbon Black. The Carbon Edition is available in two new colours, Flame Orange and Ceramic Grey. The paint on every Carbon Edition undergoes Aston Martins 25 hour flat-and-polish and a special satin lacquer paint finish.
It also gets 10 spoke gloss black diamond turned wheels, black brake calipers as standard (optional yellow, orange, red and grey), black grille, carbon fibre mirror heads and smoked rear lights.
The alloy paddles that control the touchtronic II gearbox are tipped with carbon fibre and a unique carbon edition plaque is fitted to every car.
Carbon Black
Aston Martin launched a special edition for its DBS model in 2009, a Carbon Black makeover. The models undergoes 50 man-hours of hand painting followed by rigorous quality checks. It features the modified Carbon Black metallic paint especially formulated with a subtle metallic twist to create a deep rich patina.
With everything hand-stitched by the craftspeople at Gaydon – Aston Martin’s global headquarters in England – the interior greets customers with Obsidian Black leather highlighted with a contrast silver coarse stitch The Carbon Black edition also features lightweight seats formed from Carbon Fibre and Kevlar saving 17 kg over the standard seat as well as a Piano black fascia trim, centre stack and centre console, anodized black tread plates and plaques build on the carbon theme.
