In 2005 Fiat launched the Grande Punto to celebrate the successful Punto supermini. The first three generations of the Punto had sold over six million units, and the Grand Punto should mark a new beginning for the model. It is available in three- and five-door versions, just as its predecessor and is the leading model in Fiat's B segment.

The Grande Punto was developed in a cooperation between Italdesign-Giugiaro  and the Centro de Stile Fiat. The new model is bigger than the previous Punto and shows a sporty design. The vehicle is available in two outfit levels (Active and Dynamic). In terms of safety the Grande Punto acieved five stars in the EuroNcap crash tests and hast the option of up to six airbags.

In 2009 the Grande Punto was renamed and redesigned as Punto Evo.
