Shadow was a racing team that participated in the CanAm series and Formula 1 Championship. The team was founded by Don Nichols in 1971 under the name Advance Vehicle Systems, although the cars were already called Shadows. The team was 6th in the Constructors Championship in 1975. Two years later, Shadow got its first victory at a Grand Prix with Alan Jones on the wheel. The team fell apart when Jones joined Williams and the majority of the staff left to start Arrows.
