In September 1970, ŠKODA started producing the sports coupé ŠKODA 110 R. The car was designed and carried through as far as the production stage by the company's subsidiary plant in Kvasiny that specialised in the production of small-series commercial and sports vehicles, including the Felicia, a convertible.
The ŠKODA 110 R Coupé was based on the ŠKODA 100/110 the production of which had been launched one year earlier, i.e. in 1969, as the successor to the 1000/1100 MB. In November 1967, the company management approved the concept of the new coupé, and the first prototype was built on 31 March, 1968. The car was then introduced to consumers at the Brno trade fair.

Skoda
The origin of Skoda Auto goes back to 1895. Václav Laurin, a mechanic, and Václav Klement, book-seller, both shared a passion for bicycles. When Klement tried to get spare parts to fix is bicycle and wrote to the manufacturer in Czech, he got an unfawl reply asking him to write in a language they could understand. In that moment, the two Czechs founded Laurin & Klement and started to produce bicycles under the patriotic name: Slavia.
