Car Videos to Brighten Your Weekend is coming a little late this weekend. My apologies. This week's theme is classic British sports cars from Aston Martin to MG.
The first video comes from 1956 and shows Mike Hawthorn taking a lap at the old Le Mans circuit in a Jaguar D-Type.
Next up is a video of a Morgan Super Aero at a hillclimb. The Super Aero used a V-twin motor mounted in front of the car. Variations on this car were made by Morgan from 1911 to 1939 using a variety of motorcycle-sourced engines, although this car probably uses a Matchless, 1 liter V-twin.
Morgan has recently revived the three-wheeler. Now they use an engine made by an American Harley-Davidson tuner.
For such a rainy place, Britain has been home to many boutique sports car makers over the years. Here is Heikki Kovalainen taking a few Lotuses for a drive. This video shows him doing donuts in a Lotus 7.
And here he is in a bunch of Lotus Formula 1 cars from the company's long history. Great cinematography on this one by the way.
Finally, how about a few Aston Martins. This first one shows one of the company's most controversial models. Some people see beauty in it; others see a car that is painfully 80s. The Aston Martin Lagonda.
Finally, a track-focused Aston Martin N24 to celebrate competition in the 24 Hours of the Nuerburgring.
Hope you enjoyed them, and have a great weekend.
