-inspired refrigerator that looks like the front end of a classic 500. The kitschy appliance would probably not fit in most homes but could look great in the right place. The refrigerator was introduced in Paris at the Colette concept store.
With the top down, it appears like a Fiat 500 has crashed through the wall. When the hood goes up, the fridge holds 100 liters (3.531 cubic feet). It measures 83cm (2.7ft) long, 125cm (4.1ft) wide and 80cm (2.6ft) deep. It has two sliding doors with three removable bottle holders and a shelf. It uses 115kWh of energy a year. It is available in red, green and white.
Fiat has created an entire design collection out of the 500 including a sofa, table and a console.
The partnership between Fiat and SMEG goes back to the 50s when Fiat briefly made refrigerators for them in the Fiat factory.
The SMEG 500 can be ordered online at Fiat 500 Design in June, but prices have not been announced yet.
