From the 80km/h onwards a section of the rear of the IAA extends and increases the concept's length by 390mm, making it more aerodynamic. Furthermore flaps on the front bumpers and the grille louvres are activated to improve air flow around the wheel arches and underneath the car.

The IAA concept is equipped with the same plug-in hybrid powertrain of the current C350e with a total output of 279hp, which allows the vehicle to reach 250 km/h. Mercedes did not disclose performance data on the IAA.
