Abarth Bringing 695 Tributo Maserati to Geneva while Lancia Upgrades Models

Abarth and Lancia will have a smaller presence at the Geneva Motor Show. Abarth is bringing the new 695 Tributo Maserati; while Lancia is upgrading the Thema, Flavia and Ypsilon.

Most of the Abarth models at Geneva will be the same cars it had at the Bologna Motor Show in November. It showed the the 595 Competitzione, 595 Turismo and Punto Scorpione then, but its new car for Geneva will be the Abarth 695 Tributo Maserati.

This vehicle will be limited to 499 cars and follows in the footsteps of the 695 Tributo Ferrari. The new car is a convertible with Fiat's 180hp 1.4 Turbo T-Jet 16v engine. Where the Tributo Ferrari was meant to show the marque's sporting character, the Tributo Maserati is supposed to be much more luxurious. It features 17in Maserati-designed wheels with Brembo brakes. It comes with a dual-mode Record Monza exhaust that opens a baffle above 3,000rpm to make the Tributo Maserati sound meaner. It comes exclusively in a dark red called Pontevecchio Bordeaux. It also has xenon headlights. Inside it has sand beige leather and carbon-lined dashboard.

Lancia will also have some upgraded models at the Geneva show.

The Thema will be available with all-wheel drive in 2012. The car at the show will be the top-class Executive model with a 286 HP 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine combined with e-shift 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Lancia will also have the Flavia Cabrio in Switzerland that is based on the Chrysler 200. It comes with a 175hp, 2.4 liter four-cylinder and six-speed automatic transmission. It will go on sale in Europe in March.

The Ypsilon and Voyager both get new option packages. The Voyager has new Silver and Platinum trim levels that add leather to the Silver model and Alcantara to the Platinum model. The Platinum also gets a new 163hp, 2.3 liter diesel. The Ypsilon has slightly changed styling as well.

It seems that Lancia is slowly becoming Chrysler brand of Europe. The Thema, Flavia, Voyager are all Chrysler models in the US.

That is not a Lancia! It's a horrid American rental car.

Is there a market for rebadged American cars in Europe? The thing with these cars is that they were made for the American market before Fiat bought Chrysler. European release was never even considered...
