a facelift and rebranding. The Italian make has just unveiled the new 812 SuperfastFerrari 812 SuperfastItaly, 2017 > present, the company's most powerful V12 road car ever, that will have its world debut at next month's Geneva Motor Show.

New Ferrari V12 engine more powerful than ever

Celebrating the 70th anniversary of history with V12 engines, Ferrari is launching a new 6.5-litre V12 engine that unleashes 800hp at 8500rpm. Maximum torque is 718 Nm and is available at 7700rpm. Compared to the F12tdf Ferrari has increased the output by 20hp. This should be Ferrari's final pure V12 engine, with hybrid assistance or turbocharged is expected for the upcoming models.

The new V12 engine has been coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and allows the 812 Superfastt to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 340km/h. Although the 812 Superfast is 110kg heavier (1525kg) than the F12tdf the two cars still feature identical performance figures.

Technological improvements improve handling on the Ferrari 812 Superfast

Ferrari has also worked on the improvement of the handling on the new 812 Superfast. One of the most significant additions is the electric power steering, a Ferrari first. The system has been developed to work with the make's Slide Slip Control technology.

The new 812 Superfast also gets the second generation of Virtual Short Wheelbase, which improves the steering response times of the car.

Ferrari 812 Superfast design

Ferrari says that the design of the new 812 Superfast has been inspired on the two-box design of the glorious 365 GTB4 of 1969.

Compared to the F12berlinetta the new rear-wheel drive model gets a more agressive look, with new LED lights, a new grille and more prominent aerodynamic details. In order to boost downforce or reduce drag Ferrari has placed active aerodynamic flaps at front.

Inside, the cabin has been given a sportier, more radical look with the main elements seeming to float. The instrument cluster display has been updated as well as the sport seats and steering wheel.

The Ferrari 812 Superfastt is being launched in a special new colour, Rosso Settanta, which marks the company’s 70th anniversary.
