. The body style is meant to be a more stylish alternative to the standard 3 Series sedan.

The design features a heavily curved roof, more raked windshield and rear glass, shorter doors in the front and rear with no window frames and a thicker B-pillar. It rides on the same wheelbase as the 4 Series coupe but will sit slightly higher. Body stiffening will actually add weight over the standard sedan.

Engines will be shared with the 4 Series, and rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive will be available.
