Golf R gets four special versions at Geneva

At the 81st Geneva Motor Show Volkswagen R is presenting four high-end special versions of the Golf R. Exclusive exterior colours, two-tone leather combinations and carbon accents bring the Golf R concept cars a little further.

According to Ulrich Richter, Managing Director of Volkswagen R GmbH, Volkswagen R decided to create these four special versions of the high demand and successful Golf R to show its competence in producing contemporary sports appeal.

Two of the concepts bring a new interpretation to the exclusivity of the Golf R. One of the versions is finished in a sophisticated, pearl-effect paint, “Oryx White” and has been fitted with 19-inch Talladega wheels. Inside this concept version gets an upgraded seat system which gives the Golf a unique touch. The colour of the centre panels of the front sport seats and the rear bench seat has been coordinated with the exterior with the use of the light-coloured "St. Tropez" Nappa leather. The light colour has also been applied to the seams of the door inserts, shift lever and parking brake lever boots and borders of the black floor mats. The car has brushed aluminium trim inserts and displays the R logo on the passenger’s side.

In the version with the exclusive exterior colour "Carbon Steel Grey" has its interior detailing executed in the sophisticated dark "Almandine Red" colour, creating an attractive interplay of colours around the perforated Nappa leather. The design is completed by the 19-inch wheels and aluminium trim strips.

Volkswagen R has also prepared two versions of the Golf R with carbon accents. The first of these versions comes with a special "Space Grey" (mid-tone grey) colour, polished 19-inch "Talladega" alloy wheels, orange brake callipers and carbon mirror caps.

Inside the Golf R has been treated like a racing car receiving driver and front passenger motorsport shell seats with ideal ergonomics. They have been covered in black Nappa leather, while around the lateral seat supports towards the inside, the head section and seating surfaces were covered in anthracite-coloured Nappa leather ("Light Anthracite").

The car’s interior accents use the same carbon look fond on the door mirror shells. The carbon is also used for the steering wheel, gear shift lever, inserts of the leather-trimmed sport steering wheel and the door sill plates. On door panels behind the interior door handles, on electric window switch panels and the panel around the shift lever a black piano paint is used.

The second vehicle has been painted in the high-end "Aplomb Blue.” It has been fitted with 19-inch "Glendale" wheels, coloured in "Brilliant Silver." The mirror caps, various interior accents and door sill plates have also been produced in carbon fibre. The seats have also been covered with black Nappa, but also receive some detailing in blue leather.
