Lamborghini Aventador finally revealed

After months of teasing Lamborghini finally reveals the all new successor to the Murcielago. Called Aventador it uses an advanced carbon fibre reinforced monocoque and race car style pushrod suspension and is powered by a 6.5 litre V12 engine that develops 700 horsepower.

The model that will be replacing the Murcielago in Lamborghini’s lineup is only just a little bit over a metre high and features upward opening doors. Thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibre, the Aventador weights only 1,575 kilograms, helping to increase its performance as well as its handling.

Powered by the all-new twelve-cylinder engine with 6.5 liters’ displacement, delivering 700 hp and torque of 690 Nm, the Aventador is able to reach a top speed of 350 km/h, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. Although the Aventador has seen its power increased by 8%, compared to the Murcielago, Lamborghini was able to reduce its fuel consumption by around 20%.

Inside, the Aventador features two TFT-LCD touch screens, one displaying the car’s functions and the other displaying the Lamborghini’s satellite navigation system and in-car computer.

“The Aventador is a jump of two generations in terms of design and technology, it’s the result of an entirely new project, but at the same time it’s a direct and consistent continuation of Lamborghini’s brand values. It is extreme in its design and its performance, uncompromising in its standards and technology, and unmistakably Italian in its style and perfection. Overall, the dynamics and technical excellence of the Aventador LP 700-4 makes it unrivalled in the worldwide super sports car arena,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.

The Aventador gets its name as usual from a courageous specimen of bull from the world of the Spanish Corrida. This time the Aventador was a bull that entered the arena in October 1993 at Saragoza, earning the “Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera” for its outstanding courage.

Lamborghini has announced that the first Lamborghini Aventador units will already be delivered to their owners in late summer 2011.
