Group’s brands sold 828,600 cars in November, up 4.3%, and have sold 8.68 million cars from January through November this year, up 4.7%.

"The Volkswagen Group produced a very robust performance despite the continuing economic uncertainty, and November was another good month. Our brands enjoyed particularly strong growth in China. However, the challenges on the other world markets remain unchanged,” said Christian Klingler, VW Group head of sales.

The group’s brands have sold 3.36 million cars in the European market from January to November, a fall of 1.3%. Sales have fallen in all parts of the European market – Western Europe, Germany, Central and Eastern Europe and Russia.

Sales in the North American market grew 6.7% to 807,800 cars. Of those 557,000 cars went to the United States.

South American sales shrank by 9.9% to 832,000 cars from January through November. Of those, 620,000 cars were sold in Brazil, a drop of 12.6%.

The Asian region continues to underpin the VW Group. It has sold 3.29 million cars there from January to November, up 15.1%. Of those, 2.96 million were sold in China, up 16.7%. Sales in the Indian market fell 18.5% to 84,800 cars.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles sales are up 0.4% through November to 502,800 cars. Its growth this year has been propelled by a 9.5% rise in sales in South America.

Volkswagen Group continues to be propelled by sales in Asia. While it is certainly performing well, if the Asian market shrinks, then Volkswagen Group could face a sales problem.
