Volkswagen Cars' Sales Up But Slipping Outside Asia

Cars brand sold 522,100 cars in November, up 3.4%, and it has sold 5.4 million cars worldwide from January through November, a 3.4% increase. Outside of Asia, VW Cars’ sales have fallen in nearly every major market.

In Asia, VW has sold 2.46 million cars, up 15.8%, from January to November. Of those, 2.26 million were sold in China, a 17.5% increase over the previous year. Indian sales have dropped of to 54,300 cars, a 14.7% fall.

In North America, VW has sold 563,000 cars so far this year. Of those, 373,700 cars have been sold in the United States, a drop of 5.2%.

South American sales are down 13.8% to 660,600 cars this year. Of those, 500,300 have been sold in Brazil, down 16.8%.

European sales have also fallen this year. Sales are down 4.8% to 1.51 million cars. Of those, 746,800 cars have been sold in Western Europe (excluding Germay), down 4.6%. VW Cars has sold 6.4% fewer cars in Germany this year with 516,900 cars sold. Central and Eastern Europe sales have fallen 1.7% to 242,300 cars. Of those, Russian sales are down 5.7% to 142,700 cars.
