Volkswagen Group Sales Up 4.7% Through October

The company continues to do very well in Asia

Group has sold 7.85 million cars from January to October, a 4.7% increase from the previous year. It sold 818,900 cars in October, a 3.8% increase. It is expecting to sell 9.5 million vehicles for the full year.

"Following a good start to the fourth quarter, the Group expects record deliveries for the full year. Although uncertainty in Europe continues, the first signs that markets are stabilizing are emerging," said VW Group sales and marketing boss Christian Klingler.

European market sales have fallen 1.8% to 3.05 million cars from January to October. Of the major markets, Western Europe has had a 1.1% decline, Germany a 3.1% decline, Central and Eastern Europe a 1.6% drop and Russia a 4.4% fall.

North American sales are up 7.8% for the year through October to 734,200 cars. The United States has seen 5.7% growth in that period to 508,300 cars.

South American sales have fallen 9.9% through October to 758,000 cars. The group has sold 561,900 cars in Brazil, a 12.7% drop.

Asia continues to be VW Group’s major region. Sales have grown by 15.6% so far this year to 2.95 million cars. Of those, 2.65 million have been sold in China, a 17.2% increase.
