racecars into the inaugural season of the United Sports Car Championship, which had previously been known as the United Sports Car Racing series, in the GT Le Mans class.

The team will be called Porsche North America and be headquartered at Porsche Motorsport North America in Santa Ana, California.

“North America is Porsche’s single largest road car and motorsports market. Therefore, we have decided to focus a full factory program in the newly formed series, similar to our competing in the World Endurance Championship together with Manthey Racing,” said Porsche Motorsport head Hartmut Kristen.

Porsche will announce the driver lineup for the team later but says that the drivers will be from the company’s group of factory drivers.

The team will make its competition debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona from January 25-26.

It is the first time that Porsche has had a completely factory-supported GT racing team in the United States.
