that will be revealed at the North American International Auto Show on January 15. 

The ELR is a range-extended hybrid that uses an evolution of the powertrain from the Chevrolet VoltVoltChevrolet VoltUnited States of America, 2011 > present3 photos
. It will use the same 1.4-liter engine as the Volt, but it has not been confirmed how large the battery pack will be.

Cadillac had previously shown the ELR as a concept, but it is not yet known how close the production version will be to the concept. The styling is based on the previous Converj concept. The ELR will be the first Cadillac coupe since the EldoradoEldorado Gen.8Cadillac Eldorado Gen.8United States of America, 1992 > 20024 versions

The ELR will be built at the same factory in Michigan as the Volt. Production is not scheduled to begin until late 2013.
