Formula DRIFT Scion FR-S Slides into Series in 2012

Formula Drift racer Ken Gushi is getting a new ride for 2013. Gone is his Scion Tc, and here to stay is a 600hp Scion FR-S.

One gripe about the Formula Drift series is that it allows cars to switch powerplants, hence Gushi previous car being a normally front-wheel drive Scion Tc. That means that this probably is not a tuned version of the 2.0 liter boxer engine that is usually found in the FR-S. Likely, Toyota dropped in one of its V8s.

The Formula Drift season starts on April 6, which is about the same time the FR-S and Subaru BRZ will go on sale in the US.

More information about the FR-S drift car will be available closer to the start of the series.
