. The concept brings to mind origami; there are hard creases from every angle.

Power comes from Nissan’s 3.5-liter V6 with over 300hp at the front wheels and sport-tuned Xtronic CVT. It also has a sport-tuned suspension.

The Sport Sedan Concept is meant to mix sports car proportions with the room provided by a sedan. The design comes from the Nissan Design America studio in San Diego, California. It carries all of Nissan’s next generation styling tricks like a V-shaped grill, “floating” roof and boomerang-shaped headlights. Similar designs were used for the ResonanceResonanceNissan ResonanceJapan, 2013 > 201315 photos
and Friend-MEFriend-MENissan Friend-MEJapan, 2013 > 2013 concepts that are also meant to enter production in the future. To create the floating roof, Nissan uses black A- and B-pillars hidden behind glass and a metallic C-pillar that flows into the roof.

Nissan is hoping to differentiate itself from its major competitors Toyota and Honda by investing in bold styling. The other Japanese brands can sometimes be boring, and Nissan wants to be the alternative.

"The Sport Sedan Concept shows a new, highly emotional and energetic design direction that takes Nissan's legendary approach of applying sports car principles to a sedan to the next level. The Sport Sedan Concept captures that essence with bold and exciting sports car design and proportions,” said Nissan Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura.

The interior also has cues for future production cars. It combines premium materials like diamond-shaped quilted leather, high-contrast colors and metal accents.

Nissan has not said when the production version will be on sale.
